Birthday Treat Policy

It is important that we celebrate holidays and students while keeping everyone healthy.  JCE feels strongly that these celebrations are part of the school experience.  If families would like to send birthday treats for the class in honor of their child’s birthday, we ask that you send non-food items (i.e.: pencils, stickers, etc.).  Our #1 priority is keeping all of our kids healthy and safe.  If the classroom teacher sponsors a holiday party or other event, he/she will provide a list of food items that can be sent based on classroom allergies.  We appreciate your understanding.

JCE Snack Policy

The purpose of a snack is to provide brain energy and stop young bellies from grumbling so students can focus and benefit from instruction. Snacks include but are not limited to small servings of fruit, crackers, granola bars, etc..
Candy is not considered a snack.

SJCSD Protocol and Guidelines for Allery-Aware Celebrations, Rewards, and Food Activities

The St. Johns County School District is committed to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students, including those with food allergies and medically documented dietary restrictions. To reduce the risk of allergic reactions and promote student wellness, schools shall limit the use of food for rewards, incentives, and celebrations while encouraging non-food alternatives. Transportation Changes

Parents, if it is necessary to change your student’s transportation during school, please fax (547-7985) a note prior to 2:15 pm (1:15 pm on Wednesdays) or you can email the Front Desk at [email protected]. Last minute changes are discouraged as they often confuse the student.

** Due to limited capacity we cannot issue guest bus passes. Students may only ride the school bus that they are zoned for.

Free and Reduced Lunch

Parents can complete the online Free and Reduced Lunch application by using this link: https://www.stjohns.k12.fl.us/food/free/
We encourage families to fill out the online application – English or Spanish, but you can also print a form on the same website and return it to school.  Parents should not delay applying to prevent a gap in their student’s meal eligibility.

Thank you.

Having Lunch With Your Student

Parents who have been approved through the school access process may eat lunch with their students on our lunch patio, outside the Media Center.  Parents will check in at the front office and let staff know they will be eating lunch with their student, then meet up with their student in the main hallway to proceed to the lunch patio.  Parents should only be escorting their student from the office to the patio, and back, and should not be visiting other areas of the school, unless previously arranged with a teacher. Students should return to the cafeteria before the end of their lunch time or meet their class in the hallway.  Parents may only have lunch with their own student.  Unfortunately, space constraints do not allow for parents to eat in the cafeteria so please consider postponing your plans if the weather does not cooperate.

Do you need assistance?

If you are a person with a disability who needs assistance to attend meetings or activities at Julington Creek Elementary, please call 547-7980 for help.

Younger Sibling Policy

If you are attending a class party, volunteering at the school, or attending a school field trip, please do not bring younger siblings.  While we love seeing our future Jaguars, we have found that it can often be disruptive and distract from our JCE Jaguars enjoying their celebration, field trips, or instructional time.  We feel that it is important to honor the time our students have to learn and/or celebrate with their teachers and don’t want to take the focus from that.
